Building Stronger Workplaces: Primekss Hosts EU-OSHA Good Practice Visit on Mental Health at Work

This week, the Primekss Concrete R&D Center (PBIC) welcomed representatives from the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), the State Labour Inspectorate of Latvia (Valsts darba inspekcija), occupational safety professionals, and future construction specialists for a good practice exchange visit focused on "Promoting Mental Health in the Workplace."

The event provided participants with an opportunity to learn how Primekss approaches employee wellbeing, workplace culture, and psychological safety as integral parts of a sustainable and high-performing organisation.

The visit began with a Safety Toolbox Talk led by Primekss CEO Janis Oslejs. These short safety briefings are conducted every morning on every Primekss construction site and are designed to help teams identify potential risks, discuss preventive measures, and ensure everyone starts the day with safety at the forefront of their minds.

At Primekss, we believe that physical safety and psychological safety go hand in hand. Creating an environment where people feel safe to speak up, share ideas, raise concerns, and support one another is essential to both individual wellbeing and organisational success.

During the visit, guests gained insight into the practical initiatives and daily routines that help strengthen employee wellbeing across the company. Discussions covered workplace culture, leadership practices, communication, employee engagement, and the role of safety in fostering trust and resilience.

As CEO Jānis Oslejs often reminds the team: "Our people are our greatest value."

This principle guides Primekss's approach to both innovation and workplace wellbeing. While the company is widely recognised for advancing low-carbon concrete technologies and engineering solutions, it also recognises that lasting innovation depends on the people behind it.

The event served as a valuable platform for exchanging experiences and demonstrating how organisations can create workplaces where employees can thrive both professionally and personally.

Primekss would like to thank EU-OSHA, the State Labour Inspectorate, and all participants for their engagement, insightful discussions, and commitment to advancing healthier, safer, and more supportive workplaces across the Globe.

Because innovation isn't only about stronger concrete. It's about stronger people behind it.
