The second year of the PrīmX Concrete Academy has completed

The second year of the PrīmX Concrete Academy has completed its training program, continuing our effort to prepare engineers for the practical and scientific demands of modern concrete technology.

Established by Primekss, the Academy is a testament to the company’s vision for a smarter, more sustainable construction future by nurturing top talent in engineered concrete. Congratulations to Verners Valters Skrastiņš, Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, 2nd Course.

A Commitment to Excellence

The PrīmX Concrete Academy is built on three foundational pillars that define its long-term mission:

  • Bridging Theory & Practice – Hands-on curriculum that combines classroom learning with on-site and lab-based applications.

  • Industry-Leading Mentorship – Personal guidance from senior industry experts, including:
    • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rolands Cepurītis, CTO of Primekss
    • Aldis Zegelis, Head of Concrete Technology Department, Primekss
  • Innovation at the Core – A focus on advanced concrete technologies, shrinkage-compensated systems, and sustainable, carbon-negative construction methods.

Unparalleled Learning Experiences

Participants gain access to real-world knowledge and resources rarely available in traditional academic programs:

  • State-of-the-Art Laboratories – Students work with raw materials, analyze mix designs, and test the performance of fresh and hardened concrete.

  • Industry Integration – Collaboration with leading partners like Heidelberg Materials Latvija Betons, offering insight into industrial-scale production.

  • On-Site Exposure – From local projects to international construction sites, students apply theory directly in the field.

Research Contribution

In addition to completing the training program, Verners Valters Skrastiņš conducted a research study on “Concrete Composition Factors Affecting Drying Shrinkage and the EC2 Concrete Shrinkage Model.” His work exemplifies the Academy’s mission of combining practical training with scientific exploration to advance the future of concrete technology.

“I never realized how complex and fascinating concrete science really is. One day we were studying mix designs in the lab, the next we were analyzing real structures on-site in Finland. Seeing how theory connects to the material’s actual behavior—that was my Concrete Summer.”

Investing in the Future

By training ambitious, future-focused engineers, Primekss is making a tangible investment in the evolution of the global concrete industry. Graduates are prepared to:

  • Embrace Innovation – Tackle challenges with science-based solutions.

  • Champion Sustainability – Advocate for carbon-negative materials and efficient construction.

  • Set New Standards – Shape industry best practices for durability, quality, and speed.
