Why is the NEU and its members important? Concrete production is a major source of CO2 emissions, contributing to approximately 8% of global CO2 pollution. This arises from the production of cement, one of the main components of concrete, which involves high-temperature processing of raw materials like limestone, resulting in the release of CO2.
Concrete, globally the second most utilized material after water, has long been associated with substantial CO2 emissions during production. Through the introduction of innovative materials, methodologies, and technologies, we are dedicated to actively reducing carbon emissions in concrete construction. This endeavor is a conscious decision to align our industry with sustainable development goals on a global scale.
